Highway 395
This is an exciting route that runs along the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. On this route just outside of Lake Tahoe, you will drive through National Forest Landwhich is perfect for nature lovers. Driving in California

Most motorways and roads in California are toll-free. However there are a few sections where you will have to pay a toll. For some bridges you will also have to pay a toll.
The following speed limits apply when driving in California: in urban areas 25 mph and on other roads it is usually 55 mph. On motorways also known as freeways and interstates the speed limit is usually 65 mph.
Things To Do and See
Yosemite National Park: It is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the park has lots to see, including five cascading 304 m waterfalls and giant sequoia trees. There are also other scenic locations to visit such as Glacier Point, which overlooks Half Dome, High Sierra, Tenaya Canyon and even the Vernal and Nevada Falls.
Hearst Castle: Also known as La Casa Grande, this castle originally belonged to William Randolph Hearst. The castle has 165 rooms and there are also 127 acres of land with numerous walkways, gardens and terraces. Don’t miss out on Hearst’s large collection of antiques, which are a must see.
Death Valley: When visiting Death Valley you can visit Badwater Basin, which is the lowest spot in America. You can also climb the highest mountain in the national park, Telescope Peak, for fantastic views. You can also enjoy walking on sand dunes and taking in the panoramic views at Zabriskie Point and Dante’s View.Just be sure to check your rental T&Cs to make sure you are permitted to drive in Death Valley!
Lake Tahoe: This is the third deepest lake in North America and the 10th deepest in the world. It is a popular holiday destination and it is famous for its clear blue waters, beautiful scenery and amazing outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, fishing or boat rides.
