  • Remember that in Norway they drive on the right, it is important to keep this in mind when overtaking or turning. As a general rule, vehicles and trams coming from the right have priority.

  • To use some roads, bridges and tunnels you will have to pay tolls. You will also have to pay if you would like to drive into some of the cities such as Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger.

  • Driving with dipped headlights is mandatory at all times even on a sunny day during the summer.

  • The following speed limits apply when driving in Norway: motorways and dual carriageways 90km/h (55mph) or 100km/h (62mph), outside built up areas 80km/h (49mph), urban areas 50km/h (31mph) and in residential areas 30km/h (18mph).

  • Galdhøpiggen: don’t miss out on the breathtaking views from Norway’s highest mountain. This mountain is 2,469m (8,100 ft) and it is also the highest mountain in Northern Europe. On a sunny day you will have great views of the Jotunheimen mountains. Galdhøpiggen is popular with tourists and hikers.

  • Fjords: in Norway there are over 1,100 fjords and they are famous for their natural beauty. When visiting the fjords you can try out rafting, glacier hiking, rock climbing or enjoy lots of picturesque walks. Some of the most beautiful fjords in Norway are Geirangerfjord, Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord.

  • Northern Lights: Norway is well known as being a hotspot for the Northern Lights. Some of the best places to see the Northern Lights in Norway are Tromsø, Kirkenes and Lofoten. Don’t miss out on this amazing natural phenomenon that takes place from November to February.

  • Lake Mjøsa: this is the largest lake in Norway. Lake Mjøsa is a must-visit for nature lovers. You can relax in the sun or go for a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters. By the lake there are lots of picnic areas for enjoying a meal whilst admiring the beautiful scenery.
