Useful Tips for Camping in Germany
Germany is a popular destination for either summer or winter. To avoid any disappointment, you should book your campervan in advance. Booking early ensures you can find a campervan that suits your specific needs. To drive in Germany, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid UK passport and a full UK driving licence.

The best time to visit Germany for outdoor activities is during the summer months. In summer you can visit one of the many wonderful lakes in Germany such as Walchensee where you can swim after a long drive.
- Winter Holidays
In the winter you can go skiing in Bavaria or Baden Württemberg. If you would like to go skiing then we would recommend booking your campervan for January or February.
- Beach and Lake Holidays
Whether at the beach or at a lake, the summer season is perfect for swimming in the Baltic Sea or the Tegernsee with its crystal-clear waters.

Driving in Germany
Remember that in Germany drivers drive on the right and it is important to keep this in mind when overtaking or turning. Traffic coming from the right has priority at all crossroads and junctions. Vehicles on a roundabout have right of way, unless road signs indicate they don’t. When you enter a roundabout do not indicate, you should only indicate when you are leaving a roundabout.
Unless road signs state otherwise, the following speed limits apply when driving in Germany: motorways 130 km/h (80mph), main roads 100 km/h (62mph) and urban areas 50 km/h (31mph). Many parts of the Autobahn have no speed limit and this is indicated by a circular white sign with five diagonal black lines. Only drive as fast as you feel is safe and take extra care when overtaking as vehicles can suddenly appear.
