Unfortunately, the front tyres were completely worn, with less than 1 mm of tread remaining. We had also been given a very cheap model. One window was taped and could not be opened. A roller blind (blackout blind) could not be closed. In the foot area around the driver's compartment, a plastic part with cables came down after a few days and was provisionally covered with tape. This was above the brake and therefore safety-relevant.

Everything went smoothly. Thank you

Perfect van hire! Very good condition / excellent quality bedding. The only downside is the very long pick-up and drop-off times .... 2 more employees would speed up these procedures A must see!

Seats could not be turned. Sitting at the table was very cramped.

It was great for a family roadtrip!
All that's missing is a reversing camera and support legs to prevent the motorhome swaying when stationary.

We hired a TC van for 8 days via the Camper Days platform. Everything went very well and our rental company Touring Cars was perfect. We can recommend CamperDays for choosing a vehicle rental and for their responsiveness to requests for information about our rental company. Have a great trip!

The car was in good condition with 40,000 km. However, it is a bit cramped for four people, especially as the upper bed is quite difficult to get down. Otherwise all good.

Pick up in Stockholm - very timely collection from the airport to pick up point. Very thorough hand over process. No major issues with the vehicle during a 17 day trip covering 3000 km. Helpful info for travellers would be: Where to park in cities Better App info for finding grey water dump stations and latrines as well as fresh water points for those who want to travel more off grid around Sweden

Roadsurfer branch in Stockholm: WoMo in poor condition, defective water pump, heating system defective during the stay (can happen), but unfortunately inadequate service. No hot water and heating for a fortnight in frosty temperatures. Poor service.

Uncomplicated handling. New, clean vehicle (less than 25,000 kilometres driven). Existing stone chip in the windscreen (already recorded according to verbal information).

Collection was disastrous, but clearly not down to staff but management. The staff were so stressed. That they could not take time to discuss the vehicle professionally. As they had to deliver over 80 vehicles that day, they were over 4 hours behind schedule, very poor organisation by the management. We had also ordered and paid for the perium package, but did not receive it. When we asked the staff, they said they didn't know what it was, 2nd gas bottle 2nd bedding and barbecue were missing!

The overall package is right. Unfortunately, the dishes were not returned clean by our predecessor.

Helpful tips for your trip to Stockholm
Stockholm's weather varies wildly depending on the season, so it's paramount to rent a campervan in Stockholm at the right time. While a winter wonderland trip might sound lovely, bear in mind that if you go from October to February, there’s likely to be snow, which can make it difficult to get around in a campervan.
Campervan hire in Stockholm is popular from June to September, with highs of around 25 degrees Celsius and plenty of sunshine. To get the best out of the weather and avoid difficulties driving, we would recommend a campervan for hire in Stockholm during summer.
- Hiking
If you’re up for a challenge, try part of the Roslagsleden trail, the start of which (Danderyd) is just 20 minutes (10km) from Stockholm by car. Other popular hiking routes when you rent a campervan in Stockholm include the Björnö Nature Reserve, Tyresta National Park, and Paradiset Nature Reserve.
- Swimming
Following the nature theme, there are plenty of lakes and beaches in Stockholm, too, many of which are safe for wild swimming. Råstasjön is a popular lake, and Ängbybadet, Kanaanbadet, and Hässelby strandbad are all well-known beaches.
- Sightseeing
If you’re keen to learn more about the roots of ABBA or explore Stockholm’s iconic architecture, there’s plenty to do in this city when you hire a campervan in Stockholm. Some of Stockholm’s best sights include Gamla Stan (the old town), ABBA Museum, Vasa Museum and the Royal Palace.
Campervan offers for couples in Stockholm
For a romantic trip for two exploring Stockholm and other cities nearby, a smaller motorhome is just right. Discover our selection of vehicles for two people and explore together.
Campervan offers for families in Stockholm
If you want to go on a family camping holiday in Stockholm, we recommend a large motorhome. Alcove models are very popular with families with children, as the motorhomes are spacious and have several sleeping and seating areas.
Campervan offers for dog owners in Stockholm
Whether it's a campervan or a classic motorhome, there are now several rental companies in Stockholm that allow pets in their vehicles. In the CamperDays search, you can easily search for suitable offers using the "Pets allowed" filter.
Best Campervan routes from Stockholm
Stockholm to Lake Vänern
Perfect for outdoorsy types seeking more nature than Stockholm can offer, Lake Vänern is a popular destination that lies around 300km and a 3.5-hour drive from Stockholm. You’ll drive down the E20 through plenty of scenic Swedish countryside. There’s also the option to stop at Lake Vättern on the way, which also lies 3.25 hours and about 250km from Stockholm.
Stockholm to Gothenburg
If you want to visit the country’s other coast while seeing Sweden’s second city, head to Gothenburg. While the drive is a little longer at 5.25 hours and 466km, you’ll be rewarded by the city’s incredible Amsterdam-style canals and leafy boulevards. You’ll mostly travel via E4 and Route 40 to get there.
Stockholm to Norrköping
If you want to visit one of Sweden’s most industrial cities which also has an unexpectedly impressive outdoor offering, head to Norrköping. Sites of interest and excursions outside Stockholm
Uppsala
Uppsala is a university city just outside of Stockholm, known for its lively student population and beautiful architecture. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Cambridge of Sweden’ (and for good reason), Uppsala lies just a 1.25-hour drive (71km) from the centre of Stockholm.
Sigtuna
Located just 48km and a 55-minute drive from Stockholm, Sigtuna is a town known for its medieval ruins and historical sights. Home to shops and restaurants in traditional Swedish wooden buildings, here you’ll find Sweden’s oldest main street as well as the ruins of St. Olaf’s, St. Lawrence’s and St. Peter’s medieval churches.
Västerås
This city in central Sweden is easily accessible from Stockholm at just a 1.5-hour drive and 108km away. Located on the shore of Lake Mälaren, it’s the perfect spot to blend city living with scenic views and outdoor activities.

Långholmens is a popular city-based campsite that’s motorhome-friendly, while Östnora is about a 30-minute drive from Stockholm and close to the sea, so perfect if you’re seeking a seaside getaway. Just outside Stockholm city, you’ll find Rösjöbaden's, a popular spot with nice trekking trails as well as electrical connections for electric vehicles.
In general, driving around Sweden is straightforward, and most drivers respect the rules of the road. However, when it comes to the city centre itself, you’ll likely encounter some traffic and narrow streets that might be difficult to navigate in a large vehicle. The best course of action for visiting the centre is to part up your campervan at the campsite and use public transport to reach the centre - there’s plenty of it in Stockholm.
The good news is that Sweden doesn’t charge any tolls on motorways. There is, however, a congestion charge for driving in and out of Stockholm city centre. Find out more about when this charge applies and how much you can expect to pay here.
